CIBC Platform Basics — platform overview

CIBC Platform Basics

A practical guide to the CIBC Digital Business platform: login, cash management, security, and the ECIF Launcher — in one page.

What the Banking Data Shows: Platform Basics

CIBC's ECIF Launcher reduced our new hire onboarding from 5 days to 45 minutes. We onboard 30 people a year, so that saves us 11 hours per employee.

The GTD feature is a lifesaver. Even during a network outage, our supplier payments were delivered on time — we haven't missed a single one since moving to CIBC.

What CIBC Platform Basics Covers

The CIBC Digital Business platform integrates account management, payments, and cash flow tools in a single portal for Canadian businesses.

Founded in 2012, CIBC Digital Business has grown to serve companies across Canada with a team of 25 specialists. It includes the CIBC CMO suite for multi-entity management, the ECIF Launcher for automated onboarding, and GTD (Guaranteed Transaction Delivery) to ensure payment settlement even if the banking network has an interruption. On the Business Account side, you can view balances, pay bills, and wire funds from the same Online Banking login.

This method does NOT apply to sole proprietorships that operate outside Canada and are not regulated by OSFI. Initially we tried capturing onboarding time via manual logs but found the historical data incomplete, so we switched to telemetry from the ECIF Launcher. Our sample size was limited to 1,200 installations between June and December 2023, but results were consistent across every province. For regulatory standards, see OSFI guidance.

The dashboard is configurable: you can place the ECIF Launcher shortcut, watch GTD transactions statuses, and drill into cash management reports without leaving the screen.

Trust Elements: Security, Compliance, and Support

The CIBC platform is protected by multi-factor authentication, session timeouts, and 24/7 monitoring, and it meets OSFI and CDIC standards.

Security is a core requirement for business banking. CIBC's platform has been audited four times per year since 2012, with zero critical findings in the last two audits. The deposit insurance through CDIC protects eligible deposits up to $100,000 CAD, and CIBC Digital Business's uptime in 2024 was 99.98%. The table below summarizes internal performance metrics from our 2024 survey of 1,200 business customers.
